Born on April 15, 1932 in Edgecombe County, NC, he was the son of the late Authur and Amanda (Atkinson) Jones.
He is survived by his brother, George A. Jones, husband of Cassandra Durham – Jones of Reading, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Johnnie was predeceased by two brothers, Tinnie R. Jones and Jessie C. Jones and a sister, Bessie C. Wingfield.
A funeral service will commence promptly at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 to 11:00am. Burial will follow services in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.
