Born in Reading, PA, on June 22, 1948, she was a daughter to the late Luther John Long Sr. and Violet (Guinther) Long Reber. She is now reunited in heaven with her parents, her brother Luther J. Long Jr., and her beloved husband of 48 years, Kenneth Moyer, who passed away on October 30, 2018.
June held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including librarian, print shop saleswoman, and craftswoman. Her creative spirit bloomed through her small business, June’s Pressed Flowers, where she sold handmade floral creations. She was a true master of pressed flowers and earned numerous awards at the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show. She even won a few first-place titles, competing against entries from all over the world.
June’s passion for flowers and gardening ran deep. She completed over 500 hours of coursework to become a certified Penn State Master Gardener and was a proud member of the Reading-Berks PA Guild of Craftsmen. June's yard was always bursting with blooms. Her godson Greg joked that she had “umpteen amount of flowers,” and whenever June and Ken went on vacation and he had to house sit, he would pray for rain because if it didn’t, he’d be out there all day watering.
She had a competitive side too. June loved playing volleyball and had a soft spot for her many feline companions over the years, including Mama Cat, Little Red, Gray Be, and most recently, Felix and Oscar.
June was the kind of person who could chat for hours, had a caring heart, and was simply fun to be around. Her warmth and wit left an impression on everyone she met.
June's spirit will be carried on by her godson Gregory “Greg” Yost and his spouse, Susan Yost; her goddaughter Kimberly Yost and her spouse Lisa Patten; her aunt Mildred Yost; her sister-in-law Shelly Long, wife of the late Luther J. Long Jr.; and her nieces Erika Long and Chelsea Long.
A viewing for June will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Auman’s Inc., 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Prayer service will commence in the funeral home at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Bruce Osterhout officiating. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
As you might imagine, flowers are very much welcome. June believed life is simply brighter with a few extra blooms.
