LaRene Kathryn (Bice) Castor, 95, of Elizabethtown, PA, entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Masonic Villages. Born in Reading, PA, on January 20, 1930, she was a daughter to the late William H. Bice and Frances V. (Babb) Bice. In addition to her parents, she was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Howard Ganser Castor, and her sister, Patricia Ann (Bice) Adam.
LaRene’s spirit will be carried on by her three daughters, Linda Mondschein, Cathy Sweeney and her husband Robert, and Karen Mayeski and her husband Darryl. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsay, and Matthew Mondschein, who will forever cherish her memory.
LaRene dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, working at Reading and Pottstown Hospitals, as well as alongside Dr. Spangler and Dr. Rudolph. Her passion for service extended beyond her profession—she was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingston, PA, where she worshiped since 1967.
LaRene lived a life full of warmth and generosity. She actively participated in the American Red Cross, volunteering at blood drives to support those in need. She found joy in quilting as a member of her local quilting club and contributed to her community through the Women’s Kiwanis Club. Known for her welcoming spirit, she loved to entertain, often bringing friends and neighbors together for gatherings.

A prayer service for LaRene will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
