Larry Warren Gingerich, 83, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at his home. Born in Newmanstown, PA, on December 02, 1942, he was the son of the late Warren Robert Gingerich and Earlene May (Matthew) Gingerich.
Larry was a graduate of Newmanstown High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He received his honorable discharge on August 1, 1973.
Larry spent his career in the food service industry, a journey that began during his time in the Army as a cook. He started as a dishwasher and worked his way into management positions with several companies throughout the area. Among his many accomplishments, he ran his first kitchen when Wanamaker's Department Store was located in Reading, helped open the food service operation at The Highlands, and eventually retired from Spruce Manor in Reading while working with The Wood Company.
Outside of work, Larry enjoyed country music, dancing, and cruising. It took his wife nearly 25 years to convince him to get on a cruise ship, but once he did, he was hooked. The two enjoyed taking cruises together annually or every other year. Larry was also well known for his cheesecake, and family and friends always looked forward to getting a taste whenever he brought one to an event.
Larry absolutely adored his Cockapoo, "Buddy," and the two were never far apart. He also took pride in always looking his best when he left the house and especially enjoyed shopping at Hess's in Allentown when the store was still open.
Larry was a genuinely likeable man who was loved by everyone who knew him. His easy going personality and kind nature will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia D. (White) Gingerich, with whom he recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on August 29. He is also survived by his daughter, Julie Lutz; his sister, Betty Gingerich; his granddaughters, Melanie and Brittany; and his great-grandchildren, Caylee and Gaven.
Graveside committal with military honors will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery entrance by 10:45 a.m.
