

Born in Aiken, SC, Lenny was a son of the late Thomas and Willie Mae (Clark) Hightower. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Lenny was employed for over 25 years with Tenneco Paint as a shift supervisor. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks on Walnut St. and American Legion-George Washington Carver Post #962 on Third St.
Lenny enjoyed sports and his favorite time of year was March Madness. He was a huge Colts and Cowboys fan. He was a collector of coins, rare paper bills and antique guns. Spending time with his family is what he loved to do best although it has been speculated that eating was his favorite pasttime. He liked to play cards and bingo and indulge in soap operas.
Left behind to cherish his memories are daughter, Lenora S. Darden and her husband, David Woodside, of Port Saint Lucie, FL; a grandson, Christon Darden I; and three great-grandchildren: Kalimah, Michael III and Christon Darden II, all of Hampton, VA; brother, Thomas L. Hightower Jr. and his wife, Leslie, of Reading; nine nieces: Sheila, Melissa, Thomasina, Brenda, Debra, Lisa, Tashama, Jyesha and Javlynne; five nephews: Joel, Thomas, Wayne, Preston and Carlton; and a host of great-nieces, -nephews, cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by a grandson, Michael Darden II; two sisters, Marguerite "Betty Jean" Davis and Shirley A. Johnson; a brother Brian W. Hightower, a niece, Marian "Penny" Johnson; and his furry friend, Pepper.
Home Going services for Lenny will be Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church of God, 130 W. Buttonwood St., Reading, PA 19601 with his very good friend, Rev. Robert Brookins, officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Lenny will be laid to rest in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
