Margaret Jane Hafer, 83, of Oley, PA, affectionately known as "Grammy", entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at her residence. Born in Reading, PA on January 4, 1941, she was a daughter to the late William Matz and Emma Jane (Stufflet) Matz.
Margaret was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1959. For 10 years, she served as a social worker with Special Care, extending her kindness and support to those with special needs. In addition to her social work, she was a familiar face at Whit-Mar Inn and Schmecks Villa, where she was a waitress for many years.
Margaret loved the outdoors, where she spent much of her time tending to her lush flower and vegetable gardens. When her hands weren't in the dirt, they were crafting Christmas ornaments, putting together jigsaw puzzles, or marking a bingo card.
The beach held a special place in Margaret's heart, there is where she felt most at peace. Her love for travel took her on numerous cruises, and no day was complete for Margaret without her favorite sweet treat, strawberry ice cream. Above all else, she adored her family and treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Known for her sense of humor and bubbly personality, she could also be a little stubborn and opinionated, but she always was genuine and true to herself and others.
Margaret's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the same joy and laughter she brought into this world.
Margaret's spirit will be carried on by her 2 daughters Kimberly Hartenstine (Lane) and Keily Hafer-Johnson (Morris). She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren Tyler Hartenstine (Samantha), Abagale Schlegel (Kory), Landan Hartenstine (Victoria), Kayla Johnson, Tony Sanders; 3 great grandchildren Violet Hartenstine, River Hartenstine, Olivia Narrvo; sister Lynn Wagner (Donald) and niece Amanda Blimline (Robert) to cherish her memory.
