

Mary Louise (McClary) Staples, 85, of Reading, went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2013 at Life Care Hospital of Chester County. She was the loving wife of the late Dock S. Staples. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Born in Reading on November 24, 1927, Mary was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Caroline (Thomas) McClary.
She was a Reading High School graduate and was self-employed as a domestic cleaner. Mary was an avid bingo player and enjoyed writing poetry. She loved the Lord and looked forward to going to church. She is well known for ministering to people and she was very social. One of the things she looked forward to was going out to eat with her social club, the Sunshine Club. She loved spending time with her family.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her two sons, Larry J. McClary of Reading and Dennis A. Staples and his companion, Lori Weidner, of Reading; a daughter, Linda M. Richardson and her husband, Ray of Reading; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving is a brother, Charles McClary, and his wife, Barbara, of Reading and a host of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son, Melvin McClary, and a brother, Sylvester McClary Jr.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 in St. John's Baptist Church, 436 S. 7th, Reading, PA 19602. Family and friends will be received in the church from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601 is entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Reading. Memorial contributions may be made to S. 7th St. Christian Fellowship Church, 415 S. 7th St., Reading, PA 19602.
