Megan was the bravest and strongest person I have ever met. Yet, she was the sweetest and most caring individual as was exemplified by her love of all creatures great and small.
She was active in rescuing small animals, and she donated to saving tigers, whales, and other endangered species. Her love for all God's creatures led her to become a true vegan. Her "saint-like" response to two rare diseases, that eventually led to her death, was remarkable. She never complained about the bad hand she was dealt. "Life" is what happens to us while we are here on earth, but living is how we handle it. Megan handled it with the greatest strength and dignity. She, herself, through long searches and investigations on the internet, came up with a type of lipid which could heal her liver instead of damaging it. This allowed her to gain back some much needed weight.
Megan graduated with honors from Albright College, and she was the pharmacy technician and trouble shooter at Penn Pharmacy. Megan had a particular fondness for rabbits, especially her enormous Agnes and she told us rabbits are magical. She learned to love the shore as a toddler, barely able to walk. Myrtle Beach soon became a favorite travel destination. She also enjoyed cooking vegan recipes and enjoyed trying to share them with us.
Before her hearing loss, she loved to go to concerts such as "Keane" and "Crowded House." She was a fearless driver to destinations such as Philadelphia, New York, and Washington, D.C. She played the French horn with the Reading Youth Symphony. Her love of music ranged from Nirvana to Drorak. Megan played tennis in her youth: and she enjoyed watching matches on TV, especially those with Roger Federer and Stefi Graf. Megan loved to travel. She visited places in the United States with family and church groups. She had a love for the German language and was fortunate to go to high school Bremerhaven, Germany, for a month with her teacher, Frau Tischi. After college graduation, she toured England, Scotland, and the Netherlands. However, she always said there was no place like home. Her only Christmas wish was to come back home with us. We were hoping to make that happen.
Megan is survived by her parents, Darlene and Dennis Alsdorf; her grandmother, Emil Fekete; her aunts, Cynthia Falter and Valeria Hutchinson; and her cousins, Beth Wawrzgnek and Steven Rodolff.
She was predeceased by her beloved brother, Drew W. Alsdorf; grandparents, William and Kathleen Alsdorf and grandmother, Valerie Fekete.
