

Born in Reading on Jan. 3, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Mildred (Wentling) Faust.
Melissa was a strong, hard-working woman of faith and love. Her compassion toward others knew no bounds.
During her 30 years of service as a psychiatric aide at Wernersville State Hospital and 27 years employed by Threshold Rehabilitation Services, Melissa cared for and inspired clients, staff and family members.
A graduate of Reading High School, Melissa was in the color guard of the band.
She went to Bryland's Beauty School and became a licensed hairstylist.
She also attended and received credits at Reading Area Community College.
Melissa had a wide variety of interests and hobbies. She was a collector of antiques and unique jewelry pieces. She enjoyed her pets, especially her 2 cats.
Melissa made many donations to various charities and never missed a televised game of her beloved Philadelphia Phillies.
Melissa was a devoted Christian and enjoyed services at Glad Tidings Church.
A committed mother and grandmother who always put the children first, Melissa was appropriately also known as "Bubbles" with her vibrant spirit and bubbly personality that touched everyone around her.
A loyal friend to so many, Melissa is survived by 2 daughters: Stacy L. Butler, and her husband, Jeremy Stripling, of Exeter Township, and Michelle L. Butler, of West Lawn, and 4 grandchildren: Cain Butler, Amir Rodriguez, Raquel Rodriguez and Melissa M. Butler.
She was predeceased by a brother, Barry Butler.
Services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 9:30 am in the Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
A viewing will be Friday, June 17, 2011, 6-8 pm, and Saturday, June 18, 2011, 8:30-9:30 am, in the funeral home.
