Michael George Ebbert, 63, of Auburn, PA, passed away at his home on October 11, 2026. Born in Reading, PA, on August 28, 1963, he was the son of Susan Ebbert and is now reunited with his pop, George Ebbert.
Michael spent most of his working life in construction, a field where he could put his skills and knowledge to use. His last position was at the Daniel Boone Homestead, a job he particularly enjoyed and one that brought together his working life and his appreciation for history.
Outside of work, Michael had a wide range of interests that reflected his curious mind and adventurous spirit. He collected firearms, loved cycling, and, in his prime, could ride his bike up Skyline Drive in Reading. He enjoyed caring for his aquarium and had a lifelong love of cats, many of whom shared his home over the years. Of all his feline companions, Clyde held a special place in his heart, with Binky a close second. Michael was fascinated by history, enjoyed watching war documentaries and 60 Minutes, and was an avid reader with an impressive collection of books. He was also a talented cook who loved experimenting in the kitchen, earning himself the well deserved title of the master of breakfast.
Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, Michael was a big man with an even bigger heart. Beneath his larger than life presence was a teddy bear with a gentle nature, a love of laughter, and a unique sense of humor. He genuinely enjoyed connecting with people and was always willing to teach someone something new whenever he had the opportunity. Michael had a way of bringing people together through conversation, humor, and his willingness to share what he knew. His kindness, knowledge, and playful spirit made him unforgettable to those fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his mother, Susan, Michael’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 38 years, Tammy S. (Weaver) Ebbert; his son, Kyle M. Ebbert; his daughter-in-law, Jessica Ebbert; his grandson, Levi K. Ebbert; his mother, Susan Ebbert; and his aunt, Geraldine Ebbert.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at Auman’s Inc., 391 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:15 p.m., officiated by Pastor David Duquette.
