

Miriam Manning Altenderfer, 92, a resident of Berks Heim, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 4th. Mrs. Altenderfer was born on January 27, 1922. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Manning and Mary Bender Manning; husband, Charles Sumner Altenderfer Jr.; two brothers, Charles Manning, Wellington Manning; and sisters: Edith Unger, Ethel Gechter, Elsie Rice and Jane McDonald.
After graduating from West Reading High School in 1938, Miriam worked as a telephone operator supervisor with the Bell Telephone Company and as a switchboard operator at Boscov's Department Store.
Miriam is survived by three daughters: Gretchen Radcliffe, wife of Chuck Radcliffe, Lakeland, Flordia; Jane Lisowski, wife of Pete Lisowski, Covington, PA; and Marybeth Dietrich, wife of Thomas Dietrich, Reading, PA; and her two sons, Chuck Altenderfer, husband of Ginny Altenderfer, Kutztown, PA; and David Altenderfer, Jeffersonville, PA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Heather Correa, Brent Radcliffe, Garrett Radcliffe, Tyler Lisowski, Megan Horst, Caroline Dietrich, Sarah Linn, Benjamin Dietrich, Eliza Altenderfer and Leanza Altenderfer. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchilden.
