

Norman E. "Sam" Schaffer, 87, of Reading, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. He was born in Coventryville, PA. on February 24, 1937, a son of the late Clement Clever and Alice Mae (Peck) Schaffer.
Norman was a very hard working person who loved working on cars and built his own home. In Sam's younger years, he assisted in establishing Schaffer's Junkyard in Elverson, which is present day Schaffer's Towing. He was a mechanic for Ford Motor Co., and also owned a service station on Bingaman Street. He's had various jobs which also included; a mechanic for Clover Farms Dairy, delivering seafood on the east coast and a supervisor for Billiard Barbells.
Surviving is his girlfriend, Barbara Haring, sons, Gary Schaffer and Brian Schaffer, daughters, Crystal (Shaeffer) Littlefield and Kimberly Kline, brothers; Larry L. Schaffer and Robert L. Schaffer, sisters; Mary Ann (Schaffer) Stoltzfus and Barbara Louise (Schaffer) Zook and several grandchildren.
Norman was predeceased by his son, Jeffery N. Shaeffer, daughters, Patti Schaffer and Shirley Ann Schaffer, brothers, Earl R. Schaffer and William F. Schaffer, sister, Sarah Jane (Schaffer) Tokarczyk, and 2 grandsons, Dylan Shaeffer and Christopher Schaffer.
Services will be Friday August 9, 2024 at 1pm in Auman's Inc Funeral Home, 390 W Neversink Rd Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
