Pat was born in Reading, PA, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Ethel Leibig. She graduated from Reading High School. She had several secretarial positions before retiring from the data center at Metropolitan Edison.
Pat was the beloved wife of Neil V. Valanty for 42 wonderful years. Together, they shared a love of dancing, particularly international folk dancing and ballroom dancing. Through their group, Valanty’s International Folk Dancers, they performed at nursing homes and special events throughout the Reading area, continuing their dancing adventures in Florida and Texas. Their passion for dancing remained a special part of their lives well into their late 80s.
Pat was a generous and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her life, and she found great joy in creating a warm and loving home. She was exceptionally creative, making her own clothing and costumes and decorating her home with care. She loved preparing special dishes for her family and friends. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning a Blue Ribbon at the Boscov’s Carnival for her apple pie recipe. Pat was an organizer and planned enjoyable bus trips to New York and the casino.
Even though Pat was raised in the Catholic faith, they attended the Episcopal Church in Macungie and continued participating with Pastor Dory at Country Meadows, Wyomissing.
In addition to her husband, Neil Valanty, Pat is survived by her blended family: Greg Hoffman and Michael; Becky Rader and Rick; Mark Hoffman and Teresa; Mary Stinchcomb; and Neil J. Valanty and Diana.
Her grandchildren include Craig Reichl and Heather; Jeff Reichl and Natasha; Janelle Hoffman and Frank Barbosa; Mason Hoffman; David Vicari and Jen; Marissa Valanty; Emily Fuller and Nick; and Chrissy and Dylan. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Payton and Cooper Reichl, Sam Vicari, Lorenzo Barbosa, Dash, Isabella, and Vanassa Fuller, and Owen.
Pat was predeceased by Anthony “King” Hoffman, her sister, Joan Toole, and her brother-in-law, Pete Toole.
Neil and the family extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff and residents at Country Meadows and Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and support during this difficult time.
A Commemoration of Life will be held at a later date.
Pat will be remembered for her generous heart, creative spirit, love of dancing, and unwavering devotion to her family. The memories she created and the love she shared will remain with those who knew her for years to come.
