Paula Mercedes Arias de Ventura

Paula Mercedes Arias de Ventura, 76 years old, of Pine St., passed away in her home on Sunday, February 19, 2017. She was loving wife of the late Roselio Antonio Ventura. Sadly, Roselio passed away on May 1, 1994.

Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic on March 27, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Raul F. Rodriguez and Maria Dolores de Jesus Arias.

Paula was a devoted member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church for several years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and shopping. Paula always had a smile on her face.

Surviving are four sons: Mario Arias and his wife, Thelma of New York, Esposito Burgos and his wife, Maria S. Rodriguez of Dominican Republic, Roque Burgos and his wife, Sonia of Reading and Pedro Burgos of New York; four daughters, Magdalena M. Urena of New York, Yuberkis C. Ventura of Reading, Sandra C. Troche and her husband, David of Shillington and Ana A. Ventura and her husband, Angel Velez of Reading; 20 grandchildren: Dayanette Arias, Mario Arias, Jr., Yaritza Rodriguez, Daniel O’Brien, Ashley Arias, Wilson Sosa, Luis Morales, Angel Velez, Andy D. Troche, Alexander Velez, Darien Troche, Jonathan Ortega, Brianna Burgos, Paula Burgos, Karina Burgos, Dayana Burgos, Paulita Burgos, Juan B. Burgos, Jennifer Burgos and Anna Sanchez; several great grandchildren and five great great children.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 9:30am on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 with Father David Kozak as celebrant in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 322 S. Fifth St., Reading, PA 19602. Family and friends will be received in Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home from 6 to 8:00pm. A vigil prayer service will be in the funeral home Tuesday at 7:45pm. An additional viewing will be on Wednesday in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

Paula will be laid to rest in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA 19605.
