Richard Robert Shollenberger Sr., 88, of Reading, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Richard is survived by the love of his life, Patricia A. (Tempest) Shollenberger who celebrated 62 years of marriage. Richard was born in Rocktown, PA., on November 24, 1933 a son of the late Edith (Ebling) Shollenberger. He was an Air Force Veteran serving his country during the Korean War receiving UN service medal, the Korean service medal and the National Defense medal. Richard was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and Reading Police from Nov. 1958 to his retirement in March 1979. He was employed as a security guard for CABOT CORP. in Boyertown from 1979-1998. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Richard bowled at Bowl-A-Rama on Tuesday Business Men's League where he bowled a perfect game. He coached Exeter little league baseball and played on the Men's league softball team.
In addition to his wife, Richard is also survived by his children; Richard R. and his wife Priscilla Shollenberger of Sinking Spring, John M. and his wife Alysia Shollenberger of Exeter Township, Kurt J. and his wife Cindy Shollenberger of St. Lawrence, Melissa A. and her husband Dion Shingle of Exeter, Peter A. and his wife Yvonne Shollenberger of Exeter, 2 brothers, Marvin Shollenberger Mesa, WA., and Leslie Oxenreider Spring Township, 6 grandchildren; Tyler, Sabrina and her husband Matt, John II, Alexis, Amanda and her husband Jeff, Hailee, 2 step grandchildren; Madelynn and Halleigh and one great grandchild on the way.
Richard was predeceased by his siblings; Ray, Harold, Charles, Donald, and Karl Shollenberger, Elsie Grill and Darlene "Dolly" Noecker.
Funeral Services will be Friday May 27, 2022 at 1pm in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reiffton. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Viewings will be Thursday 6-8pm and Friday 12-1pm in the funeral home.
