Robert Lee Green

Born in Birdsboro, PA in Berks County on February 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Robert and Minnie (Golden) Green. He was married to his lovely wife Glarneice (Martin) Green for over 46 years.

Confessing Christ at an early age, Bob joined First Baptist Church Birdsboro, PA where he was a member for over 40 years. As a member he served as an Usher, sang on the choir and was Chairman of the Trustee Board.

After graduating Reading High school in 1960, he joined the U.S. Air Force, which he served our country for four years. He was employed by Western Electric for two years and later worked for Carpenter Steel as an electrician for 33 years until retirement in 2000.

Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved spending time with his family. Bob was a member of the Brothers Of Peace Motorcycle Club and Bid Whist Social Club. He also enjoyed fishing, cruises, travelling and riding his motorcycle with his “Gigi” on the backseat.

Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves to cherish loving memories two daughters, Andria Brewer, husband Shawn of West Reading and Daphne Diaby of Mt. Penn; one son, Daryl Green and his wife, Kara of Honolulu,HI; one brother Benjamin Williams; eight grandchildren, David Jr., Marcus, Jared, Tionna, Jasmine, Nevaeh, Jabari, and Daryl Jr. and three great grandchildren.

Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Ruby Martin, Patricia Branch, Hattie Stewart, Mary Martin, and Gwendolyn Cousar; brothers-in-law, Leon, Carlton, Tyrone Martin, Charles Cousar; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob is predeceased by a sister, Mittie Mae Smith.

A Homegoing Service will commence at 12:00pm on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Zion Baptist Church, 224 Washington St., Reading, PA. Family and friends will be received at the church before the service at 9:00am-12:00pm on Thursday. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
