

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Richter and Elizabeth (Fatula) Richter; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene (Shilobod) Richter; his three siblings, Jean Niece, John Richter (wife Wendy), and Barbara Lander (husband John); and his four children, Sherie Daniel, Susan Davis (husband Mike), James Richter (wife Jennifer), and Brenda Richter. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jesse, Melissa, Lemuel, Tyler, Joel, Michaela, and Dennis; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Haverford High School in 1957 and from Albright College in 1961. He was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who specialized in two areas of accounting: real estate and SEC regulations. He began his career with Price Waterhouse in Philadelphia and later joined Laventhol & Horwath, where he became the firm's National SEC Partner. He was an active member of numerous professional committees and authored many articles related to his areas of expertise. He wrote the chapter on real estate accounting in the Corporate Controller's Manual and was the author of the SEC Accounting and Reporting Manual.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bob loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed camping, skiing, and hiking in the mountains of New Hampshire and Colorado. Astronomy was his lifelong hobby. He belonged to several astronomy clubs and loved taking his equipment out at night to participate in the many local star parties. He shared his love of nature, science, and astronomy with his children and grandchildren, who looked up to him as a source of knowledge about history and the natural world, from trees and weather to the stars.
His love of music spanned multiple genres, including classical, rock, jazz, and spiritual choral music. He possessed an unusually perceptive ear and immersed himself in the science of acoustics and sound technology from an early age, even building his own speakers as a young man.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing and visitation on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 391 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m.
Inurnment will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Those attending the inurnment are kindly asked to arrive at the cemetery entrance by 11:45 a.m.
