

Rodney “Sonny” James DeLong, 76, of Wyomissing, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 in Berks Heim Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of 24 years to Karen L. (Delp) Klahr DeLong.
Born in Reading on July 16, 1940, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen DeLong. He was employed with Metropolitan Edison as an engineer for 36 years before retiring in 1995.
Sonny was a member of the East End Athletics Club and enjoyed traveling. His favorite thing to do was to sail the Chesapeake Bay with his wife, Karen.
In addition to his wife, Karen, Sonny is survived by a son, Todd J. Klahr and his wife, Cindy of Birdsboro; a daughter, Victoria Spannuth of Muhlenberg Twp.; three grandchildren, Ashley Klahr, Janel Illiano and Chelsea Spannuth and two great grandchildren, Brantley and Jeramiah Klahr.
Also surviving is his beloved black Lab, Bella.
Sonny is predeceased by a son, Greg DeLong.
Services for Sonny are private and at the convenience of the family. Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading is entrusted with the arrangements.
