Ronald Heltzinger Madeira

Ron was born in Shoemakersville, PA. on February 24, 1934, a son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Heltzinger) Madeira. Ron proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953-1956 during the Korean War. He was a retired Lieutenant Fire Training officer for the City of Reading and was last employed by the City of Reading Parking Authority. He and Gladys were former owners of the Fire Haus Saloon in West Reading and Ron was a former Fire Chief of the West Reading Fire Department. Ron also served in the Reading chapter of the B.P.O.E Elks Lodge where he served as the Exalted Ruler. In his earlier years, Ron enjoyed his summers with his family at Chestnut Pointe Marina, MD., boating, crabbing, and friends at the Flats and Chincoteague Is., VA.

Surviving are his children: Kim Madeira, wife of David Pope of Gilbertsville, PA, Theresa Wills, wife of Daniel Wills of Bensalem, PA, Stacey Rothharpt partner of David Balsley of West Norriton, PA, 6 grandchildren; Gennifer, Veronica, Nick, Meaghan, Emily, and Shannon, 12 great grandchildren; Timothy, Leah, Nora, Harper, Josie, Abigail, Emma, Jacob, Rene Jr., Quentin, Brooklyn and Zavion and one great great granddaughter, Hazel.

Also surviving are a stepson, Keith Himmelberger, and step grandchildren: Brooke, Bradley, Kelley, and step great grandchildren; Cailey, Shae, Quinn, Madison, and Morgan and 1 step great great grandchild, Scarlett niece, Dana and nephew, Jason and brother-in-law, Lee Vanino.

Ron was predeceased by his 2 sons: Michael Madeira and Ronald Madeira, his granddaughter, Pamela Rothharpt, his sister, Nancy Vanino and his stepson, H. Scott Himmelberger.

A memorial service will be Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 11 AM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 26 W. Washington, St., Fleetwood, PA 19522. Auman's Inc Funeral Home, Reading is honored to be serving the family. www.aumansinc.com
