Russell Winslow Williams, 63, of Reading, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Born in Reading on September 30, 1962, he was the son of Sylvia (Williams) Lazard and the late Willie Bess Woodson, and was raised by his stepfather, Grant R. Cooper.
Russell was educated in the Reading School District and fulfilled his service to the nation as a member of the United States Army during peacetime.
He worked for many years as a custodian at Vanity Fair Outlet until it closed and was also employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) at Reading Hospital. He attended the St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Russell demonstrated a passion for cooking, boxing, being a disc jockey and dancing. He was loved by many and will be missed by many. “BAM”
He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his fond and loving memories, his mother Sylvia Lazard, husband Robert, Stepfather Grant R. Cooper; (four) sisters, Shona Williams, Doreen Hutchison, Patricia Woodson, and Audrey Ripley, (two) brothers Chauncey Martin and LaMont Duncan, his longtime companion Teresa "Shorty" Prigg, nephews; Mark Jennings, Jr, Isaiah Rauch, Shaquille Garner, nieces; Ritescha Rauch, Kyniece Ross and a special niece, Dechonne Woodson, Goddaughter Asia Williams, and a host of many more nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Special thanks to Russell’s four most loyal friends, Carnel, Vincent, Junie, and Greg for your unwavering love and support.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lillian and Sylvester Williams, his father Willie Bess Woodson, and his wife Denise (Robertson) Williams.
A Home going service will be celebrated, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 12 noon in St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 436 South 7th Street, Reading, PA 19602, Reverend Jerry Jones, Officiating: with a gathering from 11-12 noon in the church.
