

Jack Brown and Beluah Mackey-Brown in Lancaster, South
Carolina. She entered peacefully into her eternal rest on
November 26, 2017 at Reading Hospital, Reading
Pennsylvania.
She grew up in Lancaster, South Carolina where she attended
Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a firm
fixture of both the Church and community until her
marriage to the late Escort Lee Duncan. Together they
relocated to Reading, Pennsylvania, in this union 13
children were born.
Her legacy is that of a virtuous woman of God, loving wife
and mother, friend to everyone she met, her warm smile, the
kindness she offered regardless of the situation and her
constant reminder that we should take it “One day at a time
with the help of the Lord”.
She was presented with a certificate by the city of Reading
in 2015 during the Elder Appreciation Day.
She is survived by her three sons: Mackever (Sherry) Duncan
of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brack Duncan, Sherwood
(Tara) Duncan of Reading, PA. Her nine daughters: Mary
Byrd of Philadelphia, PA, Pauline Duncan, Martha (Grant)
Cooper, Barbara Duncan, Valerie Duncan, Lisa Duncan of
Reading, PA., Rebecca Carr of Pottstown, PA, Nancy
Pasking of Charlotte, North Carolina, Coleen (William)
McAlpine of Fayetteville, North Carolina. One brother,
Roger Brown and one sister Pastor Lela Cousar , one aunt
Sarah Mackey all of Lancaster, South Carolina. 22
grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 2 great, great
grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Two special
friends: Louise Stroman and Pauline Sims.
She was preceded in death by her husband Escort Lee
Duncan, one son Willie Duncan, a daughter Diane Duncan,
one grandson Xavier Zion Duncan, one great-great grandson
Se’viyon Brandon Jefferson.
