Mrs. Sarah Mae Sloane
September 28, 1933 – May 13, 2019
Mrs. Sarah Mae (Bridges) Sloane, 85, of Temple, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 13, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Willie W. Sloane who sadly passed away in 2014.
Mrs. Sarah was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina on September 28, 1933, she was a daughter of the late John Douglas and Sarah C. (Graham) Bridges. She was a faithful member of Buttonwood Mennonite Church until it closed. She then became a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church where she served in various ministries and sang on the church choir up until her health no longer allowed. Mrs. Sarah was employed for many years with Hollywood Cleaners as a shirt press operator until she retired.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, William W. Sloane of Charlotte, NC and her daughter, Cynthia K. (Sloane) West and her husband, Richard L. of Temple; 26 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
In addition to her parents, five siblings, and her husband, Willie, Mrs. Sarah is predeceased by three sons, Kenneth L., Douglas E., Bobby L. Sloane; and also a daughter, Krystal L. Sloane.
Homegoing services for Mrs. Sarah will be Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11am in Zion Baptist Church, 224 Washington St., Reading, PA 19601. Family and friends are invited to the viewing in the church on Friday from 9 to 11am. Mrs. Sarah will be laid to rest beside Willie in Laureldale Cemetery, Reading.
