Shirley A. (Lightcap) Girvin, 87, of Myerstown, and formerly of Douglassville, died peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Stone Ridge Towne Center Nursing Home. Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. Eachus and Anna (Shollenberger) Eachus. She had a predeceased brother, John (Jack) Eachus of Boyertown. Shirley was the loving wife of the late Hayes B. Girvin. Her first husband was the late Charles D. "Chet" Lightcap, Jr who shared 41 years of marriage.
Shirley was an RN graduating from the Reading Hospital's Nursing Program. Most of her career was served with the Pottstown Visiting Nurses Association. She remained faithful to her vocation after retirement by volunteering numerous activities within her church.
Shirley's faith was an important part of her life. She was a faithful member first at Searles UMC, then moved to Cedarville UMC. When she moved to Arbor Gate in Myerstown, her membership was transferred to the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Lebanon where she remained active until 2020.
Shirley enjoyed lots of activities: crafting, knitting, quilting, gardening, camping, square dancing, antiquing, bird watching, and traveling, to name a few. But the most important thing, after her relationship with Jesus, was her family. Shirley loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was the "glue" that held our family together, always planning holiday and special gatherings, making them special for all invited.
Surviving is a son Charles D. Lightcap, III husband of Beverly of Denver, two daughters: Christine wife of Kurt Senger of Salemburg, NC, Wendy wife of Cliff Jarrell of Kentucky, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a stepson Lyndon Girvin of Columbia, two stepdaughters: Pamela wife of Steven Herman of Manheim, Stephanie wife of Michael Van Cisco of Lititz, 8 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Shirley's memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 90 S. Charlotte St., Manheim on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 am.
