Hospital. She was the widow of Rufus Jones and the companion of Kenneth Norman whom they shared 28 years together.
She was born in Reading, May 3, 1935, a daughter of the late David and Gertruth (Grieff) Kapaona. Shirley had worked at Gwen Perry's Beauty Salon as an assistant for 5 years.
She is survived by 5 sons: David R. Kapaona Sr. (Nancy L.) of Sinking Spring; Michael E. Grinnage and his fiancee, Josefina Clark, of West Reading; Richard S. Grinnage (Sherrilann-Yard) of Florida; twins Franklin D. Grinnage (Dyanne) of Honolulu, HI; and Robert C. Grinnage (Mary Beth) of Catasauqua, PA; and her daughter, Karen J. Grinnage, of Reading; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday December 14 2011 at 2 pm in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home 247 Penn Street, Reading. A viewing will be Wednesday from 12-2pm in the funeral home. www.theocauman.com.
