Thomas Joseph Mammarella Jr., 82, of Mt. Penn, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 13, 2025, on his birthday, proving he had perfect timing and wanted to celebrate one last milestone on his own terms.
Born in West Reading on September 13, 1943, Thomas was a beloved son to the late Marie (Mittower) Mammarella and Thomas J. Mammarella Sr., and stepson of Margaret Mammarella.
Thomas will be lovingly remembered by his cousin, Ronnie DiAugustino, along with his many caretakers and friends at ProBerco who became like family to him. A fixture at ProBerco for many years, he held various positions at their workshop, always ready with a kind word, or a helping hand. No challenge was too great, and no hurdle in life ever made him lose his kindness or sense of humor.
A die-hard Phillies and Eagles fan, Thomas could talk baseball and football with the passion of a coach, and the charm of someone who genuinely loved sharing the game with friends. He was generous to a fault, was endlessly curious, and brilliant in his own quiet way.
In his later years, Thomas embraced adventure, traveling the world and going on cruises, always eager to see new places. Meeting Thomas meant gaining an instant friend for life, and he never met a stranger he couldn’t turn into one.
Rest in eternal peace, dear Thomas. You will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known you.
A viewing for Thomas will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Theo C. Auman Inc., 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. A prayer service will promptly commence in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA 19605.
