Warren Francis Harding, 92, of Cumru Twp., passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was engaged to the love of his life, Mary Bitting. Born in Reading on May 5, 1922, Warren was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Davis) Harding.
After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 16, 1942. He served with the 5th Engineers. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Warren was Honorably Discharged on July 16, 1945.
He was employed with the Hosiery Mill in Laureldale as a younger man. Then he took employment with Jones Trucking as an OTR truck driver for 40 years, before retiring in 1976. Warren was a life member of the VFW Post 6150 of Sinking Spring, AmVets Post 136, Pioneer Hose Co. in Robesonia, Boyertown Orioles, East End Athletic Club, Mohnton Fish & Game Club, Temple Fire Co. and the Laureldale Athletic Association. He was also a member of the Kenhorst Fire Co., Reamstown Athletic Association, American Legion Post 0732, Northkill Rod & Gun Club and the International Teamsters Retiree Department.
In addition to his fianceé, Mary, Warren is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Harding) Haas of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Gladys White of Florida. Warren is predeceased by his wife, Catherine (Dussinger) Harding; daughter, Joan Millisock, and son, Richard Harding.
A funeral service for Warren will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 7 to 9:00 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
