

Born November 8, 1965, in New York City, New York, she was raised in the neighborhood of Hamilton Heights at 593 Riverside Drive in the borough of Manhattan. Life brought her to Reading, PA when she met Leonard J. Fonte and officially married on October 25th, 2003. She attended Reading Area Community College earning her associate’s degree and followed by pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Kutztown University. She graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a minor in paralegal studies. She stayed active in local politics as it was one of her passions. She was a staple at the Reading Public Library - Northwest Branch on election days working as an election poll worker. She was the president of Berks Democratic Women helping to organize events that invited Pennsylvania State Senator Judy Schwank and U.S. House of Representative Chrissy Houlahan to meet and empower women to run for office locally. She worked for many years as a constituent liaison in State Rep. Mark Rozzi’s Muhlenberg Township office. Her spirit was always at work to fight for the dignity, rights, and charity of anyone who happened to cross her path. Her constant aura of joy and goodness gave hope and comfort to so many people who have had the fortune of meeting Yvonne Fonte.
Yvonne Fonte loved binge watching TV shows like Stranger Things, Law and Order SVU, Will Trent, The Equalizer with Queen Latifah, Andy Griffith show, Documentaries, Fire Country, Ugly Betty, Jim Gaffigan stand-up shows, and Survival of the Thickest. When she was not watching her shows she loved going to farmers markets, Green Dragon, going golfing, fishing, going to Reading Phillies games, driving around the countryside. Attending LDS church services. She also loved nature and the outdoors going to Dewey Beach Delaware and having an oceanfront room. Also riding on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry and walking around Cape May New Jersey and buying dark chocolate candy.
She is survived by her husband Leonard J Fonte; her children, Bryan Yanez, Andrew Yanez, Blair Fonte, Lauren Fonte, and Tony Fonte; and her brother, Harry Oliva.
A graveside service celebrating Yvonne Fonte’s life will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Forest Hills Memorial Park 391 W Neversink Rd Reading. Anyone who wishes to attend, please meet at the entrance to the cemetery. Auman's Inc Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
