BENJAMIN GREGORY BARRON

1953 - 2014

Benjamin Gregory Barron of Anderson, passed away at his home on March 30, 2014.

Greg was born August 14, 1953, in Fresno, California. He was the son of Benjamin and Maxine (Thomas) Barron and one of six children.

Greg grew up in Cloverdale and graduated from Anderson High School.

Greg spent years fighting fires for the Forest Service. He went to church every Sunday and regularly gave blood.

For many years Greg rode his bike all over Redding collecting cans to recycle to fund his many hobbies - no matter the temperature.

Greg loved his newly restored '56 Chevy and collecting parts for his other Chevy's. He enjoyed collecting coins and putting together model ships, airplanes and cars.

Greg also enjoyed all the holidays; going to the lake; taking care of his home and watching baseball - especially the S.F. Giants.

greg never missed an outing. He enjoyed going to Kool April Nites, the County fair, the Redding Air Show, the Asphalt Cowboy's pancake breakfast, the Redding Rodeo Parade, the Strawberry Festival, Marketfest; 4th of July fireworks and anything else happening around town.

Often misunderstood by others because they didn't understand his challenges. greg made the best of things, had a great outlook on life and asked for little.

Greg was a loving, compassionate man, who loved animals, had a great sense of humor, smiled and laughed a lot, and was always willing to help out his family and friends.

Greg had a wide range of knowledge regarding many subjects that interested him.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin George and Margaret Maxine (Thomas) Barron.

He is survived by his siblings, Cheryl Tralle,, Mark Barron, Reesa Vogt, Meg Schmalz and Will Barron; special friend Arleen Baker; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

We will all miss Greg so very much!

To The Barron Family,
So sorry to hear about your brother and hear that he had passed. He was one of the first people that introduced himself to us when we moved up here 28 years ago. Its funny that we were just talking about him and were wondering why we had'nt seen him in the valley for some time riding his bike....You knew it was him on his bike with his shining helmet and we would slow down and wave hoping that everyone as well would slow to pass him while he was picking up cans. We did miss him at the Strawberry Festival as well, he was always there for the strawberry shortcake and the entertainment. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Reesa, Ben, and Neil,
We are so sorry for the loss for your brother and uncle, Ben. I remember him as a kid growing up with you guys in Happy Valley. Except for a little graying around his beard, he did not look that much different. May God's arms provide comfort and love for you at your time of loss, and beyond.

Lovingly, and Miss you ALL! Beverly and Alan
