Growing up and living in Redding and Sacramento, Dave was often seen commuting with his favorite mode of transport, the bicycle: a fitting symbol for the way he glided through life.
Musically gifted, he could play any instrument you gave him, with many knowing his affinity and talent for steel guitar and banjo. He was in many bands, often with his older siblings Patrick and Robert, better known as Pat and Bob — Bob in particular like an identical twin who happened to be 5 years older.
Like their father, he and his older brothers, along with his younger sister Cat, became sign painters. His younger brother Kit also a musician, his family a living tribute to the power of creativity and laughter.
Throughout his years, Dave had a beautiful innocence. He had an easy laugh, and was a lifelong fan of Looney Tunes, relishing in the absurd humor. Those that can see the absurdity and laugh because of it are perhaps the ones most gifted with wisdom. Going by laughs alone, Dave was as wise as they come.
Whip smart, eyes blue as a clear lake, and the only lefty in the family, Dave made an impact everywhere he went. Once, while at school, students were tasked with creating a new school mascot that featured the colors black and blue. Dave drew a chicken on crutches, black and blue from a beating. That was Dave.
Dave never met anyone he didn’t like, and no one who ever met him felt any different. His brother Bob passed in 2020. If Dave’s anywhere right now, he’s jamming with Bob.
We’ll miss you forever, David.
