Deloris Fern Nelson

Deloris Fern Nelson went to live with the Lord on Saturday, February 22, after a heroic 2.5 year battle with cancer. She wanted to thank Dr. Figueroa and his great staff at Solace Cancer for all their help and kindness. Deloris was born in Henrietta, Texas, and raised in the East Texas city of Longview. After high school graduation, she received a scholarship from the San Francisco Art Institute. She graduated with honors from the Art Institute and San Francisco State University. The only downside of her S.F. experience was she met and married Bob. For 32 years, she has filled his life with joy and love! They also managed to produce a great son, Brady. In 2000, the family moved to Burney where Brady completed Jr. and Sr. High. She made many great friends in that delightful town. Four years ago, we settled in Redding. She will be terribly missed by Bob, Brady, and a host of wonderful friends. She has left her beautiful artwork, that has been sold worldwide, as a true and lasting legacy. A Chapel Service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:30 pm, at Lawncrest Chapel, 1522 E Cypress, Redding, CA 96002

Bob and Brady, I grew up with Fern and we had many fun times playing together, forming clubs, riding bikes, making up plays, climbing trees and catching tadpoles. She was an amazing and wonderful person and I will miss her greatly. I will be praying for you guys!! Debbie (Paris) Kelley, Longview, TX

My deepest sympathies to Bob and Brady. I can only imagine the pain and loss you are both feeling right now. I know she loved you both more than anything in this world. Thanks for being in her life. You gave her joy, love and happiness all the days of her life. She is at peace now... no more pain... no more worries. Rest now my friend. Until we meet on the other side... your old friend, Tamra

Since we met in the 5th grade, I was always impressed by your spirit and art. I remember the fun we had listening to the latest music that your sister would bring back from London in the 60's. The world will miss you.

As our family still mourns loved ones, we wish to express our sympathies for all those who loved Deloris. May these words of love also help you at this time: "When anxieties overwhelmed me, you comforted and soothed me."(Psalms 94:19). We can hear the love for Deloris from her friends and family from previous entries and know that God loves her, too. Please accept our sympathy.
