She is survived by her husband of 38 years, George Raymond Chinery, son Mark (Rocio), daughter Debra, stepdaughter Lisa (David), and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, brother Raymond, sister Lilly (Vincent), brother William (Betty Lou), sister Ann (Oliver), sister Helen (Mervin), brother Stanley, brother Robert (Margaret), and Mark and Debra’s father Philip.
Eleanor grew up near Toronto and worked for the Bank of Canada, before moving to the United States in 1961. Later in the United States, she began rose gardening (her favorite rose was the Chicago Peace), as well as RV camping throughout California with her husband George. Collecting Lladro porcelain figurines was another passion that she developed later in life. Eleanor also enjoyed spending time with her dogs, Pup and then Andy (both Boxers), followed by Jeremiah, Ruby, and a second Jeremiah (all Schipperkes).
In her professional life, Eleanor worked for Farmers Insurance in Los Angeles for 27 years, retiring as Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Real Estate in 1997. During her time at Farmers, Eleanor was known for her work ethic and hallmark organizational skills. She also made many dear friends who remained a vital part of her life, after she left the company. Shortly after retiring, Eleanor and George moved to Anderson, CA, where they took pride in building a new home. They were blessed with wonderful neighbors, who also became dear friends and welcomed them into the Anderson/Redding community.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Eleanor at the Lawncrest Chapel, Redding, at 11:00 on 25 January 2019. Please check the Lawncrest website for additional information (dignitymemorial.com).
