

Henry Krantz passed away on October 14, 2025 at the age of 89 ½ years. He was born as the only child to Joseph and Mary Krantz on May 14, 1936 in Redding California. Henry grew up on Court St in Redding but spent most of his youth at the family ranch in Enterprise. He went to school at Magnolia, Pine, Sequioa, and Rother Schools before graduating from Shasta High School. Henry then attended Shasta College followed by getting bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Chico State University. While at Chico St, Henry met and later married Roberta (Bobbi) Gay and had three sons.
Henry had a wonderful and full life that led him in many directions. During his youth he spent much of his time working on the family ranch in Enterprise. As he got older, he endeavored in many things from bus driving, airplane piloting, heavy equipment operator, subdivision developer, but his real passion and greatest lasting legacy was teaching.
Henry became a high school math teacher in Yuba City in 1960 for two years and then moved to Shasta High School for another 29 years when he retired in 1992. During his tenure he was the math department chairman for Shasta High School and later for the Shasta Unified School District. He taught the advanced math courses and developed the first computer science program for the district in the mid-1970’s. He was well known for his famous quizzes, puns, and Mickey Mouse ware. But his influence went beyond the high school classroom, as he was very involved with the Shasta High School music program and being a class advisor for many years allowed him to connect with many students in a different setting. Henry taught part time at Shasta College and was very involved in the north state mathematics organizations.
Henry spent eight years in the US Naval Reserve working as a radio operator and was discharged as a petty officer in 1962.
After retiring from teaching, Henry spent his time working on the family ranch, interacting with family, traveling, hunting and fishing. Henry is survived by his three sons (Keith, Brian, and Glenn) and their families and will be truly missed.
