Kenneth Eugene Yarber of Shasta Lake, California passed away in the early morning on October 26, 2020. Kenneth was born on July 19, 1947 in the State of Michigan to Cecil Yarber and Hazel Yarber (Gravelle). He graduated Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley, California in 1965, then married his High School sweetheart Francis that same year. The couple later settled in Shasta Lake, California where they raised their two girls. Kenneth worked a variety of jobs, then was employed as the Summit City Fire Chief for over 20 years, and until retirement in the year 1996. Post-retirement, Kenneth and Francis bought a second property, and started their own small business; Yarber's Antiques and Collectibles. The couple were dedicated to this new enterprise, successfully running the store, and selling guns and knives at shows across Northern California until early 2017. Kenneth was in the Lions Club from 2002 until 2008. During this time, he served as secretary from 2003 to 2004, and President from 2007 to 2008. He is described as "a loyal and dedicated Lion." He enjoyed hobbies including hunting, fishing and firing guns with friends and family at local shooting ranges. Kenneth looked forward to weekend mornings at the Jolly Giant flea market and estate sales, where he and his wife Francis would find treasures for their store. Kenneth will be remembered as being friendly, outgoing, helpful and always the jokester. Kenneth is survived by his daughter Darlene Yarber of Shasta Lake, California and his grandson, Adam Bonin of Ozark, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his wife Francis Yarber and his daughter April Bonin. He will be laid to rest privately, as pre-arranged. The family would like to thank Lawncrest Chapel for their compassion and caring through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenneth's name can be sent to Compass ShiningCare, a local non-profit with a vision and mission to meet the unmet needs of at-risk elderly, disabled adults and their loved ones. Kenny was a guy who loved to joke around. He told jokes with a flair that few people can accomplish. One of his favorite jokes was the one about the duck and the grapes.
A duck walks into a bar and says, "You got any grapes?"
"No," said the bartender, "and w don't serve ducks, so get the hell out of here."
The next day the duck was back. "You got any grapes?"
The bartender said, "I told you we don't have any grapes and we don't serve ducks. If you come back in here, I'm going to nail your big feet to the floor."
The next day the duck opened the door, peeked in and quietly said, "You got any nails?"
"No we don't have any nails, you stupid duck."
"You got any grapes?"
Ken was my nephew and loved to come back here to Kentucky and hunt deer. He killed some nice ones. His grandson, Adam, came too and they took back a lot of deer meet to California. I loved him dearly, and I will miss him .

I'm SO sorry for your loss. He was my neighbor up the street and a very nice man.
We had quite a few good chats over the years; he will be missed.
