Kurth Hamric Edwards, 72, was born June 12, 1938 and passed away quietly Tuesday, August 31, 2010 in Redding, California with his wife, Nancy at his side. Kurths headstone has his date of birth and the date that he died but what is most important is the dash - in the middle; it’s everything that Kurth did in his life that counts. Kurth is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 52 years, a son Tom and daughter in law Sherrie Edwards of Redding, Ca, daughter Amber and son in law Eddie Fensler of Garden Grove, Ca, Sister Corliss and brother in law Don Buchanan of Temple City, Ca, and 4 grandchildren, Blake and Stephanie Edwards, and Ashley and Katie Fensler.
Kurth accomplished many things in his life, he was a Husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. Kurth will always be remembered as the selfless, successful, respected man that he was. He was the person who would help anyone in need and everyone that came into his life looked up to him. Kurth proudly served 8 years as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and retired from Simpson Paper Company after 37 years of service.
Kurth came to Redding, Ca as a gold miner and mined for 12 years. He loved to fish and taught his son, Tom, how to fish at local lakes in Redding when Tom was growing up. When it came to football, Kurth had a love for that sport; he played football for the Marine Corps when he served and loved every moment of it. Kurth also loved to travel with his wife Nancy; they got to see and go to so many beautiful places and made incredible memories together. Kurth held a few titles of the Carter House Museum of Trustee from 1989 to 1995: Treasurer 1990 and Vice President 1991 & 1992 and also worked on the Turtle Bay Exploratorium and Kids Kingdom park. He loved to help as much as he could.
Kurth was an amazing person and lived a very full, loving life. He will always be remembered in our hearts.
