In Loving Memory of Mouangfou Saelee
Mouangfou Saelee, born amidst the serene mountains of Laos and Thailand on June 15th, 1935, peacefully departed this life on May 2nd, 2024, in Redding, CA, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.
In 1951, she married Chiem Siew Yarn Saelee, who preceded her in passing in 2017. Mouangfou’s life was marked by resilience and adaptability. Amidst the turmoil of conflicts, including the Secret War which occurred concurrently with the Vietnam War, she bravely fled her homeland of Laos and sought refuge in Thailand before immigrating to the US in 1988. Here, she became the cherished matriarch of her family, leaving behind a profound legacy of love and strength.
Mouangfou’s 88th birthday celebration, attended by numerous family members spanning four generations, stands as a testament to the depth of love and admiration her family held for her. She is survived by her three sons, seven daughters, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her struggles and sacrifices paved the path for opportunities and growth for her children and generations to come. She instilled in them values of perseverance and unity. Though she may have passed from this world, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration, guiding us through life’s challenges with the same grace and resilience she exemplified
