

Reed Hollingshead passed away June 2, 2011, at Mercy Hospital after a short illness.
Although Reed traveled to various locations across the country in pursuit of his chosen vocation, he had been a permanent resident of Shasta County for over seventy years, having moved to the Shasta Lake Area with his parents during the construction of Shasta Dam. Reed retired as a construction superintendent and had been an active member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners for over 55 years.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Moose for over 50 years and a lifetime member of the Redding Rodeo Association. One of his favorite pastimes was providing pony rides for handicapped children during rodeo week.
Reed was an avid sportsman and found great joy in his golfing, hunting, fishing and training of his bird dogs.
Reed was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family and a good friend to many.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years Bettie Hollingshead; two daughters; Mrs. Kay Daniels (Jay) and Mrs. Peggy Swensen (Fred); three stepsons Mitch, Dan, and Scott Robinson; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; three brothers Gary, Robert and Saun; and a stepsister Mildred Friel along with many nieces and nephews.
The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
