Shirley McKenzie (Tillman), age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, August 28, with family and friends at her side. Shirley was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, on January 7, 1943, to George and Coy Tillman. She attended grammar school in Canby and Susanville, California, and high school at Modoc High and Klamath Union High School where she graduated in 1961. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Edward McKenzie for 53 years. Shirley and Ed moved to Redding in 1961 where they raised two children, Michael and Kim McKenzie. Shirley was involved in Little League and Pop Warner and she was a member of Beta Delta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority for nearly 50 years. She retired from her bookkeeping position in 1999 after working in the heating and air conditioning business for more than 40 years. Shirley enjoyed traveling, antiquing, gardening, crafting, decorating, reading, cooking, and attending sporting and other events for her grandchildren. Her family was everything to her. She loved having family gatherings in her home, especially during the holidays and special occasions. Shirley is survived by her husband Edward McKenzie, son Michael McKenzie, daughter Kim McKenzie-Borden, four grandchildren, Mikilah McKenzie, Joey McKenzie, Jordan McKenzie and Sayre Borden, daughter-in-law Izetta McKenzie, son-in-law Terry Borden, mother Coy Tillman, brother Gary Tillman (all of Redding), sister and brother-in-law Virginia (Tillman) and Kim Erb of Susanville, and a multitude of extended family members who all mourn this great loss. Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved father George Tillman, and nephew Martin Tillman. Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 7, at Lawncrest Memorial on Cypress Avenue in Redding. A reception will be held at the home of Mike and Izetta McKenzie following the graveside service.
