William was born January 15, 1929 in Marvell, Arkansas to Charlie and Emma Porter.
For many years he was a welder in a steele mill in Oakland, California.
He lived for the past nine years in Red Bluff, California.
He leaves behind his loving wife Carolyn Porter, a son Ron Porter, five daughters; Martha Miller, Helen Stafford, Louise Tipton, Diane Graham and Dora Garcia. Ten grandchildren and 18 great - grandchildren.
He is loved so much and will be missed greatly.
