Adalid Olivera was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on August 20, 1933 to Manuel Alfonso Olivera and Rosa Maria Gaud Olivera. He was one of 4 children. Adalid passed away peacefully, under the gentle care of Heartland Hospice in Dearborn Heights, Michigan on November 23, 2019 at the age of 86. Adalid, sometimes called “Yiyo” was the beloved brother of Idel Alfonso (Irene) Olivera, Blanca (the late Anibal) Olivera, and the late Petra Olivera Gaud. Loving “tio” of Idel Alfonso Jr. (Lucille) Olivera, the late Anibal “Pipo” Olivera, and Lydia (Kerry) Havener. Great-tio of Jessica Olivera, Miguel Olivera, Alan (Karissa) Olivera, Jayson Olivera, Anna Havener and Ryan Havener.

Yiyo was an auto mechanic who had an appreciation for the finer things in life. He also loved great music and had an extensive music collection. Yiyo was a devout Catholic and generously supported the local religious orders. However, his passion was his family. Yiyo simply loved being a brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend. He had a kind heart and will be missed by everyone who was blessed enough to know him.

Yiyo’s family will receive friends for a Visitation and Funeral Service on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 25450 Plymouth, Redford Township, Michigan 48239. The visitation will be from 1:00pm until 8:00pm. Yiyo’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Service at 6:00pm the same evening. The service will be led by Adalid's dear friend; Father Francisco Restrepo.

Yiyo will be taken to his birth country of Puerto Rico and laid to rest by his family in Cementerio Los Cipreses; Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

On behalf of the Capuchin brothers, I offer my deepest sympathies on the passing of Yiyo. It is truly humbling to receive memorial donations in honor of Yiyo's life. Please be assured of the brother's prayers for the entire Olivera family during this great time of grief. May perpetual light shine upon Yiyo!

When I was a young Teenager Fonso and his brother Yiyo came into our lives and quickly became part of our family. Yiyo loved to dance and continued to enjoy it for most of his life. He will be missed by us and mostly by his loving brother. Fonso took great, loving care of his brother right up to the end. May Yiyo rest in peace. Maybe he can continue Dancing in heaven!

It is sad to lose a loved one, no matter what the age. If Yiyo was anything like his brother Idel, he was a gentle wonderful man. Love and prayers to God for all of the Olivera's at this time.
