Arthur Don Soto

Arthur Don Soto was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 15, 1944 to Don and Emily Soto. He was one of six children. Arthur passed away peacefully in his Belleville, Michigan home on January 23, 2025 at the age of 80.

He was the beloved father of Julie Cleveland (Norvin), Suzan Soto, Laurie Soto (Kevin Borso), and Linda Soto. Dear grandfather of Christina Lambert (Scott), Nicholas Cleveland, Benjamin Hunt (Daina), Lucas Hunt, Tommy Gatses, Carolin Stonier, and Jack Stonier. Great-grandfather of Carson Brown, and Theo Lambert.

His sisters Alice Gibson and Rose Mary Walker survive Arthur. Predeceased by his siblings: Virginia Chris, Angelita Soto, and Steven Soto. Many nieces and nephews will also miss him.

Arthur retired as an Electrician from GM after a long and successful career that fueled his passion for beautiful cars. He attended Western High School in Detroit, Michigan where he was a well-known vocalist for the singing group “The Elegants”. He met his high school sweetheart, Carol Lynn Hargan (d. 2023) in the choir; they married and had four daughters. Although they divorced, he truly loved her until the day he passed.

He was an original member of the popular Doo-Wop group “The Latin Counts” of Detroit. Having a kind heart, Arthur would often volunteer at Meal-on-Wheels on Thanksgiving. Aside from his love of singing, fancy clothes, and beautiful cars, Arthur was a simple man that treasured his solitude. However, he enjoyed getting surprise visits from his daughters who brought him homemade cookies from time to time. Arthur’s wonderful laugh, great smile, and peaceful charm will be dearly missed.
