Bertha Ruth McCoy

December 1, 1930October 11, 2021

Bertha was born to Frank and Emma Meissner on December 1, 1930, in Minden City, Michigan.

She is preceded in death by her dear husband, Richard.

She is survived by her children: Kathy (Arlen) Viecelli, Kevin (Kathy) McCoy, Rick (Julie) McCoy.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Melissa (Scott), Jeremy (Jackie), Madison (Jim), Janelle (Bret), Colleen (Austin), and Megan: and her great grandchildren: Connor, Erin, Quinn, Ella, Joey, Maci, Nora, Aiden, and Shay.

Bertha loved her family and always wanted the best for them. She guided, nurtured, and helped wherever she could. She put others before herself, had a smile and kind comment for everyone, and had a fantastic sense of humor. She was the “unofficial family historian “ who knew everybody’s birthdays and anniversaries and went out of her way to make them feel special on those days and every other day. We will miss her terribly, but are glad she is now reunited with her beloved husband in heaven.

Her memory will live on in so many ways that you may not even realize. As a young kid without grandparents, I remember being welcomed into her home with Melissa, Jeremy and Madison and being treated to wintergreen lozenges, and she treated us like we were bonus grandchildren- her presence alone made me happy. I cannot remember a time where she wasn’t smiling. I hope you know how many times I’ve thought of her over the years and smiled to myself. Prayers to the McCoy family, she will be missed greatly by so many.

Dear Rick, Julie, Janelle and Colleen,

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of Bert. She was a bright ray of sunshine in this world, and I will always remember her kindness and affection towards everyone. I have some many fond memories of Bert at countless family gatherings over the years. She loved her family more than anything and we will miss her dearly.

So very sorry for you loss. I have fond memories of such a kind aunt who always had a smile on her face. May she Rest In Peace 🙏

Sorry we won’t be able to attend funeral, my father-in-law passed away also & schedules are the same.

Grandma McCoy was the best. Whenever I saw her she always asked how I was doing and always asked how my family was doing. She was so sincere and had a heart of gold. Thinking of you all during this time!
