He was the beloved husband of the late Thelma M. Broughton, with whom he shared over 59 years of love and cherished memories. Charles was a devoted father to James Broughton and Carla (Kenneth) Nowak, and a proud grandfather to five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Brenda Hall, and his parents, Elmer and Adeline Broughton.
A proud member of the UAW, Charles retired in 1988 after more than 20 years of dedicated service. But it was in the quiet moments on the water where Charles truly found his peace. An avid fisherman, he spent countless hours fishing, often saying that the stillness of the lake was where he felt most at home. His love for fishing was a lifelong passion, and it became a cornerstone of his life, bringing him both tranquility and joy. Whether casting his line into a quiet lake or sharing stories of his fishing adventures, Charles' love of the water was a defining part of who he was.
When he wasn’t fishing, Charles enjoyed building things with his hands and working on cars. His talents and hobbies kept him busy, but it was always the call of the water that seemed to capture his heart the most.
Charles will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his deep love for fishing—a love that will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who shared in his passion for the outdoors.
He will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
A memorial gathering to honor Charles’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 beginning at 3:30 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 25450 Plymouth Road, Redford Township, MI 48239 with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 PM.
