Beloved husband of 24 years to Nicole Newhouse, and the proud and devoted father of Meagan Nystrom. Cherished brother of Jeff (Marci) Newhouse and Keith (Heidi) Newhouse, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Daniel is also survived by his parents, Vernon and Maxine Newhouse, who raised him on their family farm—where his love of working with his hands, fixing what was broken, and helping others first took shape.
Daniel proudly served in the United States Air Force before spending the rest of his life quietly and faithfully caring for the people around him. He was known as the family and community “MacGyver,” able to repair anything with patience, creativity, and a smile. If something was broken—whether a machine, a moment, or a mood—Dan found a way to make it better.
Daniel lived a full life surrounded by the things he loved. He was an avid darts player, whether in leagues, friendly tournaments, or just laughing through practice at home. He loved the strategy, the competition, and the friendships that came with the game. He also had a passion for racing on Xbox through Forza, where he could lose himself for hours customizing cars, perfecting tracks, and playfully challenging friends and family. He cheered loudly and faithfully for the Green Bay Packers, and game days were some of his favorite times—full of snacks, commentary, and good-natured teasing.
He enjoyed meeting new people just as much as reconnecting with old friends, whether in the darts community, online racing groups, his church family, or neighbors he welcomed easily into his world. Daniel never met a stranger—only a friend he hadn’t talked to yet.
Some of his happiest moments were the simplest: relaxing at home, watching favorite shows, sharing inside jokes, and working in the yard with the people he loved. Whether taking care of the house, tinkering in the garage, or tending to the outdoors, he found joy in creating comfort, care, and beauty around him. To his family, he was steady, funny, loyal, and endlessly loving. He made life lighter just by being in it.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 pm, all at First Baptist Church, 217 N Wing St, Northville, MI 48167.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Border Collie Rescue, an organization meaningful to Daniel and his family.
He will be remembered always for his faith, his humor, his gentle heart, and the way he could turn even the simplest moment into something meaningful—just like he could turn any broken thing into something useful again.
