Dorothy C. Giarre-Halse was born July 19, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Katherine Marzec. She was one of three children. Dorothy passed away peacefully in her Redford Township, Michigan home on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the age of 84.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Paul Giarre with whom she raised two children. Paul has been waiting for her in Heaven since 1976. Dorothy found love again and married Earl Halse until he passed away in 1987. Dorothy was lucky enough to find love a third time and she will be deeply missed by her lifelong friend and true companion; Ted Mack.
Loving mother of Catherine (Kenneth) Rodgers and Paul Angelo Giarre. Mother-in-law of Sandra Lusko-Giarre. Dear grandma of Adam Rodgers, Damien Giarre, Genevieve (Jeremiah) Peters, Vanessa Giarre, and Selina (Corey) Chamberlin. Proud great-grandma of three: Kemp, Brenton and Raiden. Sister of the late John (the late Sophie) Marzec, and the late Edward (the late Betty) Marzec.
Dorothy loved spending summers at the family cottage on Stag Island in Canada and she really enjoyed desserts. Dorothy was a devout Catholic who was part of the Altar Society for the St. John Bosco Catholic Parish. Dorothy's passion was her faith and her church family. She continued to be a very active member of the Parish after it changed to St. John XXIII. Dorothy simply loved being a wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend. She was a natural caregiver who would love and accept anyone she came into contact with. Dorothy will be deeply missed by anyone who was lucky enough to be in her life.
Dorothy's family will receive friends on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish 12100 Beech Daly Rd., Redford Township, Michigan 48239.
