Juniaetta “June” C. Rodriguez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who crossed her path, passed away peacefully at home on December 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 31, 1932, in Lansing, Michigan, to George Wree and Averil Mattsonn.
June had a deep, lifelong relationship with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. June was a talented and creative seamstress who could sew just about anything, a craft she learned from her mother, and a gift she shared generously with others. She found great joy in gardening and took pride in nurturing both plants and people. Above all, June cherished her family. She especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved having everyone gathered together for any occasion. She was truly blessed with a very large and loving family.
For over 50 years she presided ringside as the Mother of CC wrestling. She held a special place in her heart for the wrestlers and students at Detroit Catholic Central High School, where her encouragement and support was deeply felt on the mat and beyond.
June is survived by her devoted husband of seventy three years, Mike Rodriguez; her six children: Steve (Michelle) Rodriguez, Jacqulyn (James) Hagan, David (Theresa) Rodriguez, Patti Naysmith, Nancy (Scott) Showers, and Christopher (Kelly) Rodriguez; as well as 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Douglas Wree.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Wree and Averil Mattson, and her brother, George W. Wree.
June’s warmth, generosity, and love for family and friends will be remembered always by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
