Quinell Little was born to Lovie Harris and Charles Walker (aka C.W.) Wallace June 6, 1932, in Centre Alabama. She was the 2nd of seven siblings. After graduating from Hatcher High school, she relocated to Cleveland Ohio attended nursing school and worked in the Polyclinic hospital where in the early 60’s she met and married Albert Little, her soul mate. They loved being with each other and traveling together (always by car). She often talked of how they enjoyed a happy life in Cleveland and their many endeavors. She did work as a model, a nurse assistant, private duty nursing and they owned and managed property in Cleveland, Ohio. In Detroit after her retirement, she worked as a presser in the cleaners. She enjoyed work, planted flowers and was quick to pick up a broom at the church, paint walls or lay tile to beautify her home or the church building. Quinell loved her family and devoted herself to helping them any way she could. When she was 22, she came to Atlanta to help her Aunt Marie who had given birth to a boy. Although his name was John, Quinell named him Baby Brother, a nickname that remained well into his adult years.
After moving to Detroit, Quinell and Al enjoyed hosting family gatherings that often included friendly, competitive games of Bid Wisk or Spades (sometimes all night) at their home. When her nephew, Bobby (Carla) Wilson announced that the Lord called him to preach the word of God, both Al and Quinell became members of Christ First Church and scouted out the building at 8305 Livernois in Detroit that became the place of worship for the church. In fact, Quinell held the distinction of the first “babe” of the new ministry, baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. She and Al continued to host family gatherings in their home and hosted many bible studies and church services at their home where everyone who attended enjoyed dinner after the meetings, and yes, on occasion they still enjoyed their friendly game of Bid Whist. Quinell enjoyed fellowship and being with and around her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed fishing, outings to the park and in her role as a mother of the church, she would pray for the pastors, ministers, go to the church diocese meetings, go out for breakfast, and (she could eat) dinners, and bring candy for the children.
Mother Quinell Little was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, parents and siblings, Harrison (Annette) Wallace, Eleanor Wallace, Marcellus Wallace, Kenneth Wallace, Regina Wilson, and Rodney Wallace, her niece Peggy Wallace, nephew, Bobby Wilson, cousin, John (baby brother) Robinson. She leaves to cherish her memory, her nephew raised as her son, Corey Wallace, Godson, Walter (Iristina) Johnson, Her cousins, Desmond (Pearlena) Robinson, Thomasenia Robinson, Pamela (Jim) Simmons, Reginald (Amelia) Woody. Good friends, Mrs. Johnson, and Wonda. A host of relatives and friends.
