Robert Stryker, affectionately known as Bob, Dad and Papa, passed away on May 5th, 2025, at the age of 88 years old, surrounded by his wife and children. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
Bob was known for his great love for family, His Wife Roni of 60 years and their 3 beautiful children Steve, Gary and Sue. Fostering loving relationships with each of them in his own special way. They were all his favorites. His love was a constant source of kindness and support, given freely without measure and or judgment.
Bob’s demonstration of unconditional love also spilled over to his in-laws; he embraced the spouses of his children as though they were his own. When it came to his grandchildren, all 9 of them, from the first to the last, there was no end to the love and pride that he expressed and shared with them. Always rejoicing with their successes and holding them in their trials, He was fiercely loyal and faithful to his family. However, God was not done yet, his continued riches only grew through the years having an additional 14 great-grandchildren added to his family tree, never was there a richer man.
Bob was an unassuming man, but really a true standard of strength and wisdom. In his quietness his strength was built and fortified. This same presence gave all those who knew him a sense of belonging and acceptance, that will endure beyond this life.
Bob’s passion for videography and photography was more than a hobby, it was also his career. He served in this role at the Detroit Public Schools for over 30 years. It was how he captured beauty in everyday life and shared it with others. Whether it was a quiet morning landscape or candid moments with loved ones, Bob’s photos told stories that words often could not.
An avid camper, Bob cherished time spent in nature with friends and family. Around a crackling fire or under a canopy of stars, he found peace, connection, and joy. These gatherings were filled with laughter, storytelling, and his signature warmth and humor.
Bob had a deep love for animals of all kinds. His compassion extended to every creature, and he was known for his gentle heart and instinctive care. Whether rescuing strays or feeding squirrels and birds, Bob made a difference with quiet determination.
Above all, Bob will be remembered for his humor, compassion for others. His natural curiosity and empathy, positioning him to always be willing to listen without judgment, and show up when it mattered most. These enduring traits will follow his legacy forever.
