Sarah L. Atkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 5, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on January 2, 1934, to Joseph and Addie Baize in McHenry, Kentucky, Sarah grew up surrounded by love and family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Troy D. Atkins, and her dear brothers and sisters.
Sarah's legacy lives on through her devoted children, Rebecca (Timothy) Applegate and Timothy (Maryanna) Atkins. She was a cherished grandmother to Christopher and Matthew Applegate, Sarah (Nathan) Oliveraz, Emily (Brody) Pool, Mason (Kelsie) Atkins, and Mark (Ashley) Atkins. Sarah also leaves behind a legacy of great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Logan, and Lane Pool, as well as Russell and Emma Oliveraz. Her presence will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Sarah dedicated 30 years of her life as an Executive Secretary for Ford Motor Company, where her professionalism and dedication were truly valued. She shared over 50 beautiful years of marriage with Troy, creating a life filled with love and memories. A longtime member of Northridge, formerly known as Temple Baptist Church, Sarah found solace and community in her faith.
In her leisure time, Sarah found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished moments spent with family and friends, relished in watching game shows, and found comfort in the pages of her Bible. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Sarah L. Atkins will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind
A visitation for Sarah will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 25450 Plymouth Rd., Redford, Michigan 48239. Funeral service, Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Harry J Will Funeral Home.
