Born August 23, 1953, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Scott was the son of the late Willard and Florence (Selander) Miller. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Melissa.
Scott spent his life grounded in family, faith, hard work, and quiet acts of care for the world around him. Scott married the love of his life, Roberta (Heino) Miller, on November 7, 1981. Introduced through mutual friends in high school, their partnership was one of deep respect, steady devotion, and shared adventure. Together they raised two children: Ahnna (Andrew) Beduhn and Casey Miller, who carry on his legacy of strength, generosity, and love. He was a proud grandfather to Jameson and Abigail, who brought him endless joy and whom he cherished deeply.
He loved the Lord and volunteered with countless church ministries over the years. The last few years of his life, he faithfully attended a Wednesday morning Bible study with men from Harvest Bible Church, which was always a highlight of his week.
He worked as a rough carpenter for Master Craft for forty years, later continuing his trade at BJ’s Construction for over five more. Though he officially retired in 2020, he never truly hung up his tools—there was always another project to finish, a repair to be made, or a neighbor who could use a hand.
A man of quiet passions, Scott found peace and pride in the simple things: caring for his yard in Redford, working on projects at his property up north, and maintaining a small corner park in his neighborhood—a place he quietly tended for years, asking for no recognition in return.
He loved the outdoors and spent many seasons hunting, walking the woods, and breathing in the fresh Michigan air. A lifelong learner and history enthusiast, Scott also had a unique hobby of visiting presidential libraries and state capitols—always planning routes on family road trips to include a new one to explore.
Scott’s life was defined by action—by being the dependable neighbor, the tireless worker, the loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but we thank God for the confidence that we have that Scott is now where he always looked forward to being—home with Jesus.
In accordance with Scott’s wishes, cremation will take place. Memorial service details are being planned for a later date, and will be announced once confirmed.
