Anne was born on a homestead in Belmont, Idaho on August 11th, 1920 as one of 6 children born to the union of Anders and Gunnhield Taft.
She attended a 1-room schoolhouse for all ages up to the 8th grade, then graduated from Coeur d'Alene high school, followed by Lewis & Clark State College.
Anne was a brilliant student. Immediately out of college she became a teacher in the very schoolhouse she attended as a child in Athol, Idaho.
Later, Anne worked as an Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Public Schools in Coeur d'Alene.
While visiting a friend in Pullman, Washington, Anne met her future husband-to-be, David Hodges. He was attending Washington State College at the time and the moment they laid eyes on each other, it was true love.
They were married on September 21st, 1947, and moved to Puyallup, Washington, where David managed a large poultry farm.
Soon, the couple was blessed with 3 children: Patricia (born in 1948), Philip (born in 1950), and Duane (born in 1955).
David’s job took the family to Riverside, California for a few years, then Fresno, and they ended up settling down in Woodinville, Washington.
With her growing family, Anne was a full-time homemaker, until her children were out on their own. Then, as an empty-nester, Anne began volunteer work at local hospitals and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Bothell.
Anne was a horse lover and a master gardener. She was also a fabulous seamstress and well known for her legendary deep-dish apple pie.
When her children began their families, Anne became a wonderful grandmother, and then a great-grandmother, which was a role she cherished very much. She was absolutely adored by all of her grandchildren.
Anne will always be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Those who have gone before, include her siblings – Chris, Frank, Elmer and Rena Taft and her husband of 48 years, David Hodges.
Those who remain behind to cherish Anne’s memory include her sister Adelaine Weir, her three children Patricia, Philip (Kathleen), and Duane (Beth) Hodges, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Anne’s final resting place will be beside her husband, David at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Redmond, Washington.
